About Me

About Me

Hello! I'm Bruce Benson

I'm a Power Platform Engineer & Automation Specialist with three years' experience developing solutions across the Microsoft Power Platform - Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI - designing and delivering automation and reporting that creates measurable, real-world impact across the business. This sits on top of almost 20 years in IT support, infrastructure and process improvement, which gives me deep business context to go with the technical delivery.

My background spans end-user support, Cisco VoIP telephony, IT training, hardware and software administration, and Microsoft 365 management. More recently I've focused on identifying process inefficiencies across the business and building automated solutions to address them - from supplier data workflows saving 24 hours per week, to sentiment feedback systems that replaced entirely manual processes. The common thread is making technology work harder so people don't have to.

In 2025, I served as Technical Lead on a major contact centre transformation - replacing end-of-life Cisco infrastructure with Netcall's cloud-based Converse CX platform. The project spanned 5 departments, 10 operational teams, and 85 users, and involved end-to-end implementation, third-party liaison, tailored training sessions, and ongoing post-launch support. My contribution was formally recognised during the project's lessons learned session. So far in 2026, I've taken on a growing portfolio of around 20 Power Platform and Power BI projects for teams right across my employer -spanning Power Automate workflows, Power BI reporting, SharePoint and integrations with the other systems we use day to day. The work ranges from operational reporting suites built in Power BI, using DAX and Power Query to turn raw data into something teams can actually act on, to Power Automate solutions that strip out manual effort. Demand has grown to the point where I'm now the main point of contact for Power Platform across the organisation, advising on what's achievable and helping colleagues who are just starting out with the platform.

Outside of work, I enjoy board games with family and friends, and have a long-standing interest in film - from current releases to '80s classics. I also run a home lab with self-hosted services, which keeps my technical curiosity sharp and gives me a sandbox for experimenting with new tools and setups.

I'm open to discussing the next step in my career. If you have an interesting opportunity or just want to talk through what I've been working on, feel free to
get in touch - I'm happy to share my CV or have a conversation.
